USIBWC Citizens Forum: Strengthening Public Engagement Along the U.S.-Mexico Border

The U.S. Section of the International Boundary and Water Commission (USIBWC) established the Citizens Forum program in key regions along the U.S.-Mexico border to promote transparency, public engagement, and open communication about major binational water, sewage, and infrastructure projects.

This program provides a vital platform for sharing the Commission’s priorities, initiatives, and key developments with the public. Citizens Forum Board members help amplify these efforts by fostering informed dialogue and encouraging collaboration among community members, local governments, agencies, and other stakeholders. Their engagement supports a continuous, two-way exchange of ideas that strengthens regional understanding and reinforces the Commission’s mission along the U.S.-Mexico border.

The USIBWC is dedicated to:

  • Protecting Americans from exposure to Mexican sewage
  • Maintaining and operating critical flood and wastewater infrastructure
  • Ensuring the U.S. receives its fair share of water

We are committed to working closely with our federal, state, and local partners, as well as our Mexican counterparts to address these vital issues. To learn more, select the region of the Citizens Forum meetings you're interested in below to view detailed information about each session.
