DESCRIPTION:The USIBWC Rio Grande Citizens Forum Board held a public meeting on June 22\, 2023\, at USIBWC Headquarters\, El Paso\, Texas. \nUSIBWC Environmental Protection Specialist Lisa Torres discussed the water quality of the Rio Grande in the Upper Rio Grande in Texas. The USIBWC Texas Clean Rivers program collects water quality information throughout the Rio Grande Basin. Routine monitoring has shown that bacteria continue to exceed limits in the El Paso area\, and Clean Rivers Program staff discussed bacteria issues. Ms. Torres also discussed salinity\, monitoring activities\, outreach activities\, and other projects in the Rio Grande affecting water quality. \nUSIBWC Civil Engineer Crystal Cadillo discussed ongoing and planned work to raise and rehabilitate Rio Grande flood control levees.
