CRP Photo Gallery - 2011 World Water Day Student Drawing Contest

In Spring 2011, USIBWC Texas Clean Rivers Program (CRP) solicited student drawings for the 2011 World Water Day Student Drawing Contest. Teachers were encouraged to have their students express their appreciation for the Rio Grande and the importance of water. We received 367 entries from throughout the Rio Grande Basin in Texas. The judging committee selected 20 winners in 3 categories (Kindergarten to 2nd grade, 3rd to 6th grade, and 7th to 12th grade), which were published in the 2012 Rio Grande Basin Calendar. The 20 winning entries, along with 30 other favorites, are posted here.

In 1993, the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development designated March 22 as World Water Day. It is an international day of observance and action to focus attention on the importance of fresh water and advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. www.unwater.org/worldwaterday
